What to say when you call
- “I’m not feeling safe / I’m having thoughts of harming myself.”
- Where you are now and if anyone is with you.
- Any immediate risks (e.g., medication, weapons, location).
Make a quick safety plan
- Move to a safer space; put distance between you and any means of harm.
- Call one of the numbers above — or a trusted person — and tell them you need support now.
- Use grounding: look around and name 5 things you see, 4 feel, 3 hear, 2 smell, 1 taste.
Note: Mend The Root is not an emergency service. In a crisis, call emergency services first.
